Look, these may not be our students but they are still a representation of how our students are sure to respond to some of the technologies we used to LOVE! Take a quick look at this ABC blog post, Hilarious Video: Kids React to Old Computers. The video strongly suggests that our community must take action on the words of Superintendent Saunders in his late-April 2014 community update, "MAPS students are steadily falling behind their peers in the necessary computer skills to prepare them for college and work readiness." Our schools must prepare each child for the world outside the classroom by being able to keep up inside the classroom. This will allow for our students to successfully compete with their peers locally, across the state, through out the nation and on a global scale. The fact that technology advances so quickly we have to give our students T.I.M.E. in all ways possible. After all "IT's about T.I.M.E."
MAPS Education Foundation made the decision just yesterday afternoon to fully fund an entire classroom. This means that we are $10,000 closer to the goal of $100,000. The Lawrence Fund, which also supports two scholarships annually to graduating seniors of Marquette Schools, is a partner in this financial backing. If the community continues to support this project we'll raise necessary funds in no time flat to meet the technology needs or or students, preparing them with 21st century skills to be career and college ready.
Thanks for your support in sharing our campaign Mining Journal, you got it right on the title of this article; IT's about T.I.M.E. Marquette Area Public Schools Superintendent Bill Saunders speaks to a fifth-grade class at Cherry Creek Elementary School during a press conference Tuesday morning. The district is looking for public support for its new Technology In Marquette Education program, which will put a Chromebook computer in the hands of every fifth-grader at MAPS. (Journal photo by Jackie Stark) Well, we certainly can't go back now! With one-third of the necessary funding and the unveiling of T.I.M.E., MAPSEF is all in. We are so incredibly excited to advocate for the Marquette Area Public Schools family of students and staff and look forward to witnessing the amazing community support that is sure to come.
