This is only one article, Education Weekly, that corroborates with the MAPS purchase of the Chromebook as an exceptional tool in providing a collaborative learning environment for our students. So yet again, we will thank our community, both locally and abroad, for your support of our Marquette Area Public Schools.

Your Marquette Area Public Schools Education Foundation (MAPSEF) is proud to present the first of two installments to Marquette Area Public Schools for the purchase of Chromebooks to be used by every fifth grade student in the district. This initial installment of $50,000 marks the halfway point for the total funding goal of $100,000. MAPSEF has commitments of $20,000 to the project. With your help we can raise the final $30,000 before school starts in September. For more information contact T.I.M.E. Committee Chair Judy Vonck at 906-361-0167 and [email protected] or visit www.technologyinmarquetteeducation.weebly.com.
MAPSEF extends a huge thank you for making this technology initiative possible in our local schools to community members that have donated. To those that have not yet donated, know that any amount of support you can offer is greatly appreciated; send your tax deductible donations to MAPSEF at 1201 W. Fair Ave, MQT and include T.I.M.E. in the memo line of your check. “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
― John Bunyan A ginormous thank you to all that have donated to date. We have collected $56,805 and are ordering the Chromebooks this month. To help push us to the Goal of $100,000 we are running a reminder event called Every Dime Gives Kids T.I.M.E. Any amount of money will assist in reaching the goal and meeting the needs of our students. We do appreciate each donation, even those as small as a dime! Make your donation today, help us offer the best possible Technology In Marquette Education because after all.... IT's about T.I.M.E.! This morning Marquette Area Public Schools Education Foundation Board Director Judy Vonck accepted a check from the UP Catholic Credit Union for T.I.M.E. Their contribution will fund three devices and brings us closer to our $100,000 goal. Thank you to the UP Catholic Credit Union and all donors, see the full list of donors on our Wall of Thanks which is regularly updated.
Look, these may not be our students but they are still a representation of how our students are sure to respond to some of the technologies we used to LOVE! Take a quick look at this ABC blog post, Hilarious Video: Kids React to Old Computers. The video strongly suggests that our community must take action on the words of Superintendent Saunders in his late-April 2014 community update, "MAPS students are steadily falling behind their peers in the necessary computer skills to prepare them for college and work readiness." Our schools must prepare each child for the world outside the classroom by being able to keep up inside the classroom. This will allow for our students to successfully compete with their peers locally, across the state, through out the nation and on a global scale. The fact that technology advances so quickly we have to give our students T.I.M.E. in all ways possible. After all "IT's about T.I.M.E." |
